We spent the better part of last week getting ready for Hurricane Irene. By now you probably know that Manhattan was largely unaffected. There was some minor flooding and downed trees, but for the most part it was rainy, windy and not much else. Unfortunately, those to the south and to the north weren't so lucky. Like most New Yorkers, Suki was unimpressed by Hurricane Tropical Storm Irene. Since we spent most of Saturday milling around under weather-related house arrest, the dog got increasingly antsy. Why are they here on a Saturday? Why have they brought all this food home? Why is there a 'go' bag packed and by the door just in case? The forecast for the hurricane has improved, but there will still be a significant storm nonetheless. Presently its hot, humid and dead calm; calm from a lack of wind, but also calm as the streets are entirely deserted. Every business on 6th avenue is closed.
