The forecast for the hurricane has improved, but there will still be a significant storm nonetheless. Presently its hot, humid and dead calm; calm from a lack of wind, but also calm as the streets are entirely deserted. Every business on 6th avenue is closed. I went to the roof a minute ago, and aside from a few drops of rain, it was overcast with no wind. Several people were up there nervously enjoying cocktails, but mostly appeared bored and tired of being cooped up inside. Manhattan is an eerie place when everything shuts down, and Manhattanites have no idea what to do with themselves when there's no excitement around. Fortunately, real excitement is only a few hours away.
