I finally bought a real zoom lens on Friday, the Nikkor 70-300mm f4.5 telephoto. My walking around lens is the excellent Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8, but I've been wanting a really long lens for a while. On an FX camera, you don't get the extreme enlargement of a DX, but at 300mm its plenty of zoom.
