A Note about Web Standards
June 01, 2009
I often field inquiries from various folk about their inability to read or use many of the features on kriskoeller.com.  Occasionally, these are my fault; bad code, poorly interpreted standards or a bad design decision.  However, most of the time its due to a reader using some far-from-contemporary browser; say Internet Explorer 6.0 running on Windows XP (for example).

I'm an avid reader of a technology-centric blog, titled Daring Fireball, authored by John Gruber.  He sums up his experience with legacy browsers as follows:

If Daring Fireball looks goofy in your browser, youre likely using a shitty browser that doesnt support web standards. Internet Explorer, Im looking in your direction. If you complain about this, I will laugh at you, because I do not care. If, however, you are using a modern, standards-compliant browser and have trouble viewing or reading Daring Fireball, please do let me know.
