All You Can Eat Shabu Shabu
January 12, 2008
Tonight we went out for all you can eat Shabu Shabu at Coriya, on 10th and Clement, San Francisco's "other" Chinatown. For $15, you can choose from unlimited quantities of meat; chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, fish and a variety of "exotic" foods and cook them on your own personal hot pot/burner. The idea is you can make a pretty flavorful soup from the emerging hot broth, or you can grill your meats on a super hot plate attached to the bottom of the hot pot.
All you can eat meat, veggies, sodas and desserts, coupled with $5 GIANT Tsting-Tao beers makes for an incredible meal. I liked Hot Pot City in Milpitas better; higher quality ingredients and a better variety, though Coriya is much closer. I had shabu shabu in Tokyo, all you can eat/drink for about $40 and it was the best meal I ate in Japan. We had shabu shabu in Taipei (beer not included) and it was also quite tasty. Can't wait to go back.
If you come to San Francisco, mention it and I'll take you to all you can eat Shabu Shabu. You won't regret it! Vegans/Vegetarians need not apply...
