Well, sort of. I signed up with this service called Quantcast that does some traffic analysis on your website. XBox 360 Update Scoops AppleTV

I was watching the evolution of AppleTV from the sidelines, curious to know where they were headed next. I was hoping that Apple would do some deal with Netflix to allow their extensive on-demand catalog to be streamed directly to the set-top box. The Internet Archive's 'Way Back' Machine - Vintage kriskoeller.com

About 10 years ago, the Internet Archive (archive.org) started indexing and saving copies of pretty much all web pages. I wasn't sure what this meant so searched their archives and found some interesting older versions of kriskoeller.com (see below). There are a number of sites on there; the archive is pretty slow but pretty interesting...at least until some overzealous intellectual property lawyer sues their pants off. My its come along way...

Check Out the New Blog Format

I finally got around to developing a categorization system for the blog. This way I can create blog "folders" and organize posts by theme. Here you can see I've created a collection of blogs from my Asia travels, my Europe travels, National Park travels and other nonsense. The folders are fully customizable and changeable. I think it will make it much easier to organize posts by topic and read them later on. Enjoy!

Who Wants Another Set-Top Box? Hint: Not Me

Much was made of Netflix' new set-top streaming device for instantly watching selected movies from your Netflix queue on your TV. More Photopage Updates

I added some snappy javascript to hopefully improve the layout and functionality of the photopages. My goal was to simplify navigation, so removed are the links for "next" and "previous", leading the user to click on the prior and next photo in the filmstrip, or you can simply click on the photo go advance to the next in the series. Also, the javascript enlarges the thumbnail on the filmstrip so you can get a closer look before navigating to that page. I'm still working on ...

Photo Pages Update: Dabbling in JavaScript

I've made a few more enhancements to the photo pages today, including my first extensive foray into javascript, other than making popups for postcards. If you scroll your mouse over a thumbnail on the mini- strip at the top of the photo page, it will load the full image. Depending on your connection speed and the size of the photo, the new image pops up pretty quickly. Its handy for going back and forth quickly among images without having to load the whole page. Do them often, and do them offsite. I've been using JungleDisk for about 3 months now and have been very happy with. $0.15 per gig per month at Amazon.com's cushy data center in a cave somewhere. It hasn't saved my ass yet, but here's to hoping it never needs to.

There's Something Oddly Satisfying about Tracking a Package

People often accuse me of having too much time on my hands, so its comforting to see someone exceeding me dramatically. See this attached example, where the user compiled hundreds of Apple-based images into a rather interesting collage forming an image of Steve Jobs. Easy to do on a computer these days. TV the Old Fashioned Way...

I'm still having woeful troubles with my DirecTV service. Although the receiver picks up satellite TV just fine, it cannot download and retain the programming information necessary so I can 1) know what's on TV and 2) program the DVR to record shows. If the unit doesn't know what's on, it can't record the shows I ask it to. I switched to a Mac about 5 years ago, and have been pretty happy since. I own a Mac Pro desktop, a MacBook Pro laptop, a Mac mini attached to my TV and one other Windows PC. Today was a sad day. Today I said goodbye to my friend of 4 years, TiVo. DirecTV and TiVo had a spat and went their separate ways. Tough luck for TiVo, in my opinion.
