Daily Photo: Po Lin Monastery, Lantau Island Hong Kong
August 26, 2011
During my tour of southeast Asia in 2007, I made a day trip from Hong Kong to Lantau Island. I went to see the Giant Buddha, which lives up to its name - its one giant Buddha, but I was surprised at the many other interesting things to see on the island. The photo below is the gate to the Po Lin Monastery, and from there you can visit the Giant Buddha (biggest in the world!) and many points of interest along a terrific hike high above the coast. One day is sufficient, and highly recommended.
