What I've Learned in 40 Years

Birthdays, The Koellers

Not much. I learned to love gingham at a young age, as per these pants.

Ferris Bueller said it best, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

Today at 12:01AM, while sipping champagne and digesting a burger and wings from Old Town Bar, I was presented with a gift of epic proportions. In addition to an AppleTV (which is pretty cool), I also got tickets to San Francisco, a spa weekend in Yountville and dinner at Ad-Hoc this coming December. Further, we'll be in San Francisco for New Years' Eve so please let me know if you're in the Bay Area and let's start making plans to do whatever. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!

Many thanks and much love to Jessica for the terrific gift (Suki also signed the card) and all the well-wishes I've received today. I'm not too bothered about a 40th birthday until next year, at which time I'll officially be over 40. Many of my friends have already passed this threshold (John, that was ages ago) but for the rest of you, your time will come.

Until then, keep smiling. Its (not) all down hill from here!

PS: There's been a lot of these old family photos posted today so I thought I would include a few here.
